| And now the answer to the question "Who is buried in Grant's tomb?"
For those who you who said "Gen. Ulysses S. Grant".......
50%.
You forgot Mrs. Grant. Julia Dent Grant is also buried there. Don't believe me? As my mom used to say, "Look it up". Hah! I love being an adult now and saying that. "Eat your peas". "Sit up straight". "Don't have sex until...." Oops. I guess that's too late here in Ponca City, who is #1 in teen pregnancies in the state. And wrestling. Hmmm. Aren't those two connected?
Just rambling here.
School is starting. That used to be a favorite time for parents, but when our girls were in high school that usually just signaled the beginning of activity season. Now that they're in college it just means an apartment move and lots of debit card transactions to the university.
Wish I could think of something witty to write but I'm tired. Maybe tomorrow.
And for those of you who didn't even get it right that Grant was buried in Grant's tomb, I'm afraid your IQ is down there with toasters.

| Wrapping up projects around the house. I need to do more of that. I'm way too much 80/20, and there's a lot of 20 lying around.
For instance, I need to put Daughter B's car back together. It took longer than we thought since we're changing her automatic transmission to a stick-shift, and there some 'modifications' necessary. I think I'm going to go out now and try to finish that one so we can re-claim the garage.
By the way - my trivia question still stands.
Who is buried in Grant's Tomb? Think the answer is easy? Why would I be asking that? Or am I just trying to mess with you all and the obvious answer is right? Kudos to AliceIsQuiteMad for getting it in the last post.

| Tuesday night. Summer. Boring. Maybe I should just go to bed early.
Nah!!!
Reflective ramblings.
Courage and bravery. I think I've seen them in action, but when I see people just step out in faith to follow God I realize I've never displayed either.
Tonight I had the privilege of talking to some 20's people who are stepping out in faith. How refreshing. How bold. And they are at such peace with it, I just know it is of God. Please keep them in your prayers.
I almost came apart when the air conditioner broke. I think I'm dependent on God, but if that were put to the test and all the bank accounts and retirement accounts went to $0 I wonder how I'd react. My idea of living day-to-day is wondering what we'll make for dinner tomorrow. I have it so easy, living well in the wealthiest country on earth. I pray that God doesn't put me to the test because I may find out how weak I am.
At age 20 I couldn't hardly do my own laundry or cook a full meal. My idea of roughing it was parking in a campground with a 110-volt hook-up. And then I meet people like tonight. Wow.
Alright, that was pretty philosophical, or whatever. So I'll end with a trivia question:
Who is buried in Grant's Tomb?
Sounds simple, eh? Too simple? What could he be up to .........?

| Went to vacation to see Daughter A fence in nationals in Atlanta,
flying to Florida to pick up mom-in-law and then driving up. Good
trip. If it wasn't for this continued source-of-income thing, I
wouldn't ever come back to work.
While in Atlanta, I wanted to go to a nice Italian restaurant on Friday
night. I picked out one of the higher-rated restaurants from the
internet (let's hear it for wireless internet in hotel rooms) and it
happened to be in the mid-town area where we were. So I dropped
off 'the crew' and parked the car and came back to where they were
now waiting for a table.
Not a particularly great meal. Mom-in-law, a Sicilian Italian,
spotted that this was a northern Italian restaurant and had a few
choice suggestions on how to improve the food and the cooking. So
afterwards when I swung the car in to pick them up, I saw them all
laughing: they figured out that they had gone to the wrong restaurant. There were
two Italian restaurants right next to each other, and they went to the other one.
Pretty slick move: set-up a similar restaurant next door to an
award-winning one and charge a bunch of money anyway. And we
Okies fell right in.
Ouch.

| Oh, to be 18 and have my life in front of me again.
Wait - come to think about, I'd rather be 47 and lookin' behind
me. 18 was way too stressful, not knowing how it would all turn
out. And I didn't have inspirational movies to guide me back then
like I later did. Movies like The Jerk, Animal House, CaddyShack,
and Space Balls, without which I wouldn't have much of my phrasing,
lines-for-all-occassions, and vocabulary.
I don't know where I'm going with this.
But get out there anyway, you youngsters, and spend more time in front
of the TV. Quit wasting your lives worrying. Channel 53 has
all the great sitcom reruns (The Munsters, Beverly Hillbillies,
Gilligan's Island, Batman), Channel 49 has old cartoons (The Jetsons,
The Flinstones) and chanel 48 has old good movies from time to time
like those above. And let me know your favorite.
